Hate Crime
Hate Crime is when someone is verbally or physically abused simply because they are disabled or because of their race, sexual orientation, religion, gender or appearance.
The Council's Community Safety Team has provided a year's funding for a Hate Crime helpline called Stop Hate UK.
Stop Hate UK have trained operators who are experienced in supporting adults, families and young people to report Hate Crime. When a victim calls the helpline they will speak to an operator in complete confidence and if required, they will contact emergency services on their behalf. If given permission by the victim, they will also forward the report to local partners such as the police, the Council and Homes in Havering.
Individuals who are considering calling on behalf of a victim are encouraged to do so.
The Stop Hate UK helpline has not replaced direct reporting to Homes in Havering.
