Resident Service Days 2009

Homes in Havering's (HiH's) Resident Service Days will take place from 7 April to 27 October 2009.

Resident Service Days see HiH staff and partners go out on site with the HiH mobile exhibition unit and provide a one-stop housing service to our residents. Basic repairs are performed on the day while more complicated repairs are raised using mobile technology so residents can book an appointment immediately.

During Resident Service Days HiH's Contract Monitoring officers may be able to carry out repair inspections to your property in conjunction with our repair partner, Morrison Facilities.

You can also report antisocial behaviour in your area, get advice on setting up a residents' group and find out when any scheduled improvements to your property will be completed. In 2008 residents were also able to speak to members of the local Police Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) while the London Borough of Havering Lettings section gave advice on how to register a place on the Housing Waiting List and how to request a transfer. Havering College also attended and advised residents about available courses which were tailored to their needs and ambitions. Recycling advice was provided by the London Borough of Havering's Recycling Team while Trading Standards officers also attended.

Last year 99% of the residents who attended thought the days were well worthwhile and many requested for them to run this year. We have since used the information gathered from last year's feedback survey and have made the following changes:

• introducing estate spot checks where you as a resident can come out to us and ask for our officers to go round your estate with you so you can show them what the issues in your area are
• changing from Wednesdays to Tuesdays so it doesn't clash with Romford Market Days so more residents can attend
• will now run from 1.00 pm to 7.00 pm. (on smaller estates, it will run from 1.00pm – 3.30pm or 4.30pm – 7.00pm)
• last year, we came to Romford Market on a Wednesday. This year, we will be in the market on a Saturday
• we are also looking to visit all of the main town centres in Havering
• more targeted visits to vulnerable and housebound residents so we can serve them where they live.
